Ways of Giving
ANNUAL GIFTS
Annual Fund Gifts are key to Union’s success. The Annual Fund is part of a continuing effort to maintain our high academic standards and provide physical improvements in the campus while making a Union College education affordable to all students. Your contributions help narrow the gap between actual operating costs and what students pay in tuition. Your gift can be used immediately and because it is unrestricted, applied where it will have the greatest impact. A contribution to the Annual Fund is truly a gift to the students of today and tomorrow.
APPRECIATED STOCKS
Appreciate Stocks can be donated to Union College, and you can take an income tax deduction equal to the total market value on the date of the gift, regardless of the purchase price.
BEQUESTS
Bequests allow you to bequeath a percentage of your estate, a specific amount of money or a material item to Union College through a Last Will and Testament.
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS
Endowed scholarships allow you to "give a gift that keeps on giving" by establishing an endowed scholarship at Union College. The college will assist you in setting up the guidelines by which the scholarship funds will be awarded. (gifts of $10,000 +)
INSURANCE POLICIES
Insurance poliices naming Union College as owner and beneficiary allow Union College to receive the proceeds upon the death of the insured.
MATCHING GIFTS
Matching gifts are contributions made by companies, which have offered to match, and in some cases multiply, the contributions made by their employees. This program enables some donors to increase the impact of their contributions to Union College. Matching Gifts Search
OUTRIGHT GIFTS
Outright gifts can be used immediately by Union College in support of restricted or unrestricted needs. These gifts may take many forms, including time, talent, cash, stocks, securities, real estate, and personal property.
UNRESTRICTED ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Unrestricted annual scholarships are to be used immediately for student financial assistance. This is the most appropriate way to assist current students if your intention is to personally distribute scholarship funds on an annual basis. If that is your preference, Union will allocate all of the current contribution to worthy students for a scholarship or achievement award in the year received.
Planned Gifts
Union Colleged Advancement staff will work with you and your financial advisor in identifying ways you can leave a future gift to Union through you estate planning, will or a bequest. For more information on charitable giving, visit our planned giving pages today.
